PS5 and Xbox error codes: what they mean for GTA 6
Error codes you might see while pre-loading, launching or playing GTA 6, explained using Sony's and Microsoft's own documentation. We only list codes that an official support page documents.
Based on official PlayStation, Xbox and Rockstar support documentation. Numbers in brackets link to the sources at the bottom of the page.
How to read console error codes
On PS5 the prefix tells you where the problem is. CE codes are console or software errors. NW codes are network connection errors. NP codes usually mean a system software update is needed. WS codes relate to PlayStation Network services or your account. On Xbox, codes are hexadecimal numbers such as 0x803F8001. The same code can have several causes, so check the status page first and then the official page linked for each code.
PS5 error codes

| CE-108262-9 | An error occurred while the game or app was running (a software crash).[2] | Delete the game from Settings > Storage and reinstall it. If that fails, boot into Safe Mode and choose Clear Cache and Rebuild Database > Rebuild Database. As a last resort reset the console via Settings > System > System Software > Reset Options. | CE-100005-6 | The game or app could not be loaded (for disc games, the disc may be unreadable).[3][4] | If a disc is involved, clean it with a lint-free cloth from the centre outwards and reinsert it. GTA VI ships digitally (code in box), so for GTA VI the relevant step is deleting and reinstalling the game data. Official steps |

| CE-107872-5 | Not enough free space on the console storage.[8][9] | Check free space in Settings > Storage. Sony notes an install can need roughly twice the size of the data being installed. Free up space or use extended storage; if it still fails, switch the install location between console storage and extended storage. Official steps |
| CE-100028-1 | Not enough free space on the SSD.[10][9] | Delete games or media you do not need (Settings > Storage) and retry the download. Official steps |
| CE-100006-7 | The external storage drive cannot be recognised.[11] | Reconnect the drive and check it is a supported storage device. Official steps |
| CE-100002-3 | The application update failed.[12] | Retry the update after restarting the console and checking your connection. Official steps |
| CE-107649-7 | The inserted disc contains content that differs from the installed data.[13][4] | Note GTA VI has no disc at launch, so this should only appear with other games. Official steps |

| NW-102216-2 | An error occurred while connecting to PlayStation Network.[16] | Check PSN status first. If PSN is fine, test your home network (do other devices connect?), try a wired connection instead of Wi-Fi, and restart the router. Official steps |
| NW-102636-8 | The connection to PlayStation Network timed out.[17] | Review the console's internet settings; switch the modem/router off for more than five minutes and restart it; on Wi-Fi move the PS5 closer to the router and remove obstructions; check both the publisher's server status and the PlayStation status page. | NP-102944-0 | You need to install the latest system software.[18] | Connect to the internet and update the system software. If the update fails, restart your network equipment and the console and retry, or update via USB using a file downloaded on a computer. Official steps |

| WS-116332-6 | Access to PlayStation Network from this console may be prohibited (for example a terms-of-service violation) or be temporarily unavailable.[20] | Check the PlayStation status page and the game publisher's server status; because this can be caused by temporary network congestion, try again later. Xbox error codes

Rockstar errors
GTA 6 is a single-player game at launch with no online mode announced, so Rockstar online-service errors should be rare. If Rockstar's own services are down, our status page shows it within 5 minutes.
