GTA 6 on PC: status and launcher fixes
GTA 6 has not been announced for PC. It launches on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on 19 November 2026. This page tracks the services a PC version would rely on. The fixes below apply to Rockstar's current PC games, so you are ready if a PC release is announced.

How Rockstar PC games connect
Rockstar's PC games run through the Rockstar Games Launcher, even when bought on Steam or the Epic Games Store. The launcher signs you in to your Rockstar account (formerly branded Social Club) and handles online access. A PC problem can therefore sit in three places:
- the store (Steam or Epic);
- the Rockstar launcher and account;
- the game's own online services.
The cards above cover all three. Valve publishes no official Steam status page, so for Steam we only check that the store responds.
1. The launcher says it is offline
- Check the Rockstar card above. If Rockstar reports problems, wait.
- Fully quit the launcher from the system tray, not just the window, and start it again.
- Make sure your PC's clock is set automatically. A wrong clock breaks secure sign-in.
- Temporarily disconnect any VPN. Rockstar sign-in and matchmaking often fail through VPN exit servers.
2. Firewall and antivirus
Security software sometimes blocks the launcher's background service after an update. Allow the Rockstar Games Launcher and the game's executable in Windows Defender Firewall (Allow an app through firewall) and in any third-party antivirus, then restart the launcher. Do not switch your antivirus off permanently.
3. Verify game files
Corrupted files cause crashes and "unable to connect" loops that look like server problems.
- Rockstar Games Launcher: Settings → My installed games → select the game → Verify integrity.
- Steam: Library → right-click the game → Properties → Installed Files → Verify integrity.
- Epic: Library → ⋯ → Manage → Verify.
4. Network and NAT
Enable UPnP on your router, prefer a wired connection, and avoid double NAT. For GTA Online, Rockstar lists UDP 6672 and UDP 61455–61458. Forwarding those to your PC's fixed local IP address can fix session-joining problems; a GTA 6 list has not been published. If downloads stall, try another DNS resolver, such as 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8, in your network adapter's settings.
5. Account problems
If the launcher keeps asking you to sign in, sign out of the launcher, then sign in to your Rockstar account on the website to check it works. Confirm your email address is verified and two-step verification codes arrive. Linking a Steam or Epic account to the wrong Rockstar account is a common cause of "game not owned" messages.
