Your launch ritual: Friends' party host
Launch night is a group event. Launch night is a social event for you: friends over, snacks out and everyone taking turns. GTA 6 is described as single-player, so the controller gets passed around.
Your ritual, step by step
- Pre-load on the console everyone will use, on the account that bought the game.
- Free up storage well before the night.
- Settle the debates in advance: see what everyone thinks in the launch polls.

What every ritual needs
Whatever the ritual, the groundwork in our launch checklist is the same, and the countdown shows the time left. Before 12 November, install system updates and free up generous storage; the download size has not been announced. Pre-load from 12 November, and redeem the code first if you bought a box, since boxed copies hold a download code rather than a disc. Make the console your main PS5 or Home Xbox, and keep it signed in with the account that bought the game.
Launch week at a glance
- Before 12 November: system updates, storage and the right account signed in.
- 12 November: pre-load opens and boxed copies go on sale.
- 19 November: GTA 6 launches on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
- On the night: check for a game update, and check the live status before changing any settings.
What is announced, and what is not
GTA 6 launches on 19 November 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with pre-loading from 12 November. Rockstar has not published an official unlock schedule, the download size or a PC version. This is an unofficial fan quiz; on the night, check the live status first.
