Your launch platform: Still deciding
Weighing it up before 19 November. You have not settled on a platform yet. That is fine: you have until launch, and the questions that decide it are simple ones about friends, storage and where your account lives.
Your next steps
- Decide on an edition first. Compare the editions on our map guide.
- Look at the PS5 and Xbox guides to see what each one needs from you.
- See how other players are leaning in the launch polls, then start the launch checklist.

What each platform depends on
- PS5: PlayStation Network and the PlayStation Store for sign-in, licences and downloads. See the PS5 guide.
- Xbox Series X|S: Xbox network and the Microsoft Store for the same jobs. See the Xbox guide.
- Both consoles: Rockstar's own services for its accounts. Their live state is on our status page.
- PC: not announced. Our PC page tracks the launcher and stores a PC version would use.
Launch dates
Pre-loading opens on 12 November 2026 for digital pre-orders and redeemed codes from boxed copies, which hold a download code rather than a disc. GTA 6 unlocks on 19 November 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The download size and unlock times have not been published, so leave generous storage free. The countdown shows the time left in your time zone, and the launch checklist saves your progress on this device.
About this quiz
This is an unofficial fan quiz. The result is about your setup, not about which platform is better. For live problems on launch night, see the status page and the error codes.
